his Martha’s Vineyard vacation says that the first lady is blowing millions of dollars on lavish trips on America’s dime.
White House sources told the National Enquirer that Michelle Obama has spent more than US$10 million in public money on vacations since her husband took the oath of office in 2009.
Speaking to the Enquirer, an oval office insider goes as far as to call the First Lady a “vacation junkie” whose behaviour in regards to breaking the bank on trips is “disgusting.”
“Michelle is taking advantage of her privileged position while the most hardworking Americans can barely afford a week or two off work,” says the source, who spoke to the paper anonymously. “When it’s all added up, she’s spent more than $10 million in taxpayers’ money on her vacations.”
While President Obama’s excursion to Martha’s Vineyard is costing over US$50 000 in only regards to the rental property, Michelle is said to have taken a total of around six weeks’ worth of vacation in 2010, which included nearly US$400 000 in fun abroad in Spain and a US$2 000 per night getaway at a high-priced Colorado ski resort. Top-of-the-line accommodations are only the tip of the iceberg, too. The insider adds that Mrs Obama has an insatiable thirst for top of the line liquor and says that “She favours martinis with top-shelf vodka.”
The source adds that such behaviour is typical of Michelle during her excursions, which are believed to have totalled 42 days last year. “She can’t schedule enough getaways, and she lives from one to the next – all the while sticking it to hardworking Americans,” the source says.
The Enquirer adds that President Obama is “absolutely furious” at Michelle’s “out-of-control” spending, but hopefully he isn’t letting it get to him while he’s enjoying a little time off the clock for himself right now.
Though the president and his wife have already been scrutinised for taking two separate government jets to Martha’s Vineyard for their vacation this week, Obama seems to be enjoying his excursion to the resort town. – RT.
