And, US president Barack Obama’s request to Iran for handover of advanced AQ-170 stealth Sentinel aircraft indicated the great dimensions of Iran’ victory over the US electronic warfare.
Lebanese strategist and expert on the Middle East affairs Mohsen Saleh told IRNA that Iran has made great achievement by intercepting electronic system of the US stealth reconnaissance drone and bringing down the state-of-the art aircraft.
Saleh said that the stealth drone possesses the cutting edge and modern technology of the United States. Iran’s Intelligence Ministry also announced Saturday that it had arrested a US Central Intelligence Agency spy in Iran.
Iran’s Intelligence Ministry said in a statement that the spy is a CIA analyst tasked with carrying out a complex intelligence operation and infiltrating Iran’s intelligence apparatus.
The CIA spy, with Iranian nationality, had experience in working for the Military Intelligence Division of the US Army at military bases in Iraq and Afghanistan, Iran’s satellite Press TV reported.
Iran’s intelligence agency identified the spy upon his arrival at the Bagram Airbase in Afghanistan, monitored his actions after he entered Iran, and later arrested him when he attempted to start espionage activities in Iran, said the statement.
The statement accused the US administration of spending huge expense and designing complicated plots to penetrate into the Islamic Republic’s intelligence system, in a bid to continue hostile and all-out intelligence and operational actions against Iran.
In November, an Iranian lawmaker said that Iran had been surrounded by Western spying centres near its borders in neighboring countries.
Zohre Elahian, a member of the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of the Iranian parliament, said that Israeli Mossad, American CIA and British MI6 have established espionage centres in the western, northern and eastern borders of Iran.
The espionage bases are tasked with organising terrorist actions and intelligence operations against Iran and its citizens, said the lawmaker.
