Victoria Falls-based poet and creative Obert Dube, popularly known as The African Poet, won the Creative Artist of the Year award at the inaugural GoodNews Global Awards in London, United Kingdom.
The awards were held on August 22 and recognised 100 outstanding leaders from Zimbabwe and other parts of the world for their contributions across various sectors.
Dube’s award recognised his contribution to the creative industry and adds to his growing list of achievements as a poet and creative.
The award also adds to Dube’s profile as one of the creatives using poetry and other artistic platforms to promote African culture and identity.
The GoodNews Global Awards were established by Shine Ndebele, who is associated with GoodNews For Life Ltd in the UK.
The awards recognise individuals and organisations making an impact in areas including business, healthcare, entrepreneurship, philanthropy, leadership, community development, fashion, media and the creative industries.
