AN ODZI man reportedly fatally assaulted his son after he had confronted him for mistreating his younger brother.

Police yesterday confirmed that Kudzai Mafunga (48) hit his son Caston (25) with a log on the head. Caston sustained a deep cut and died on the way to hospital.

“At 7pm, Caston Mafunga of Murambakutongwa Village confronted his father, Kudzai (48), asking him why he was cruelly and unfairly treating his younger brother,” said Manicaland spokesperson police Inspector Tavhiringwa Kakohwa.

“Mafunga picked a log and hit Caston on the head. Caston fell to the ground and sustained a deep cut on the head. His mother, Irene Weapper (44), administered first aid on him.”

On realising her son was badly injured, Weapper rushed him to Odzi Clinic, from where he was referred to Mutare General Hospital, but Caston died on the way.
