THREE Harare Municipal police officers assigned themselves duties to patrol the streets of the capital even though they were officially off duty on that day.
They have been arrested after they clashed with a motorist.
Hillary Chaya, Jabulani Mareesa and Everjoice Mudzengerere allegedly assigned themselves duties to patrol the streets of Harare even though, according to their employer, they were officially off duty.
They clashed with a motorist Miriam Chaguma.
The three, who were in plain clothes, clashed with Miriam after they clamped her vehicle and threatened to tow it away to the Central Stores in Belvedere.
A fist fight between Miriam and Everjoice exploded leaving either party with bruises.
The two filed police reports against each other at different police stations.
Harare provincial police spokesperson Inspector Luckmore Chakanza confirmed the case.
“Police are investigating two cases involving employees of City of Harare and a motorist,” said Chakanza.
