OLD Hararians’ victory over Zvishavane Bulls came at a cost as the reigning champions are set to miss three key players in their next assignment.
Coach Cyprian Mandenge yesterday said Mclean Muhambi suffered a shoulder injury, Danny Robertson (hamstring) and Prayer Chitenderu (torn calf) and they face an indefinite period on the sidelines.
The Old Boys thrashed Zvishavane 86-6.
Mandenge said they will have to come up with new centres for their next tie.
OH will face Matabeleland Warriors on Saturday.
“It is always a challenge when a team loses players and in this case it is going to be a challenge but I believe that I will still come up with new centres,” said Mandenge.
“It was sad that the players all got major injuries and they feel disappointed that they are going to miss the coming fixtures.
“Our Saturday match was one-sided and now we are looking forward to playing competitive sides. Our next match against Mat Warriors will be a better match because they are a good side.
“They finished fourth last year and so it will be great to play them so that we know where we stand. We are going to take the match seriously.
“We started the league with a bye and so we have two wins, we also beat Western Panthers 92-3.”
Harare Sports Club maintained pole position when they beat Old Georgians 20-19. Sports Club have won all their three fixtures.
Sportivo lock David Makamba said they won a competitive game.
“Although we won by one point, i am happy that we managed to do it. The match was very competitive but it was good to win and hopefully we continue with the fine run,” said Makamba.
In Bulawayo, Western Panthers beat Gweru Sports Club 50-39.
