OLD Hararians extended their lead in the National Rugby League by walloping Old Miltonians 34-0 in a one-sided match at Hartsfield yesterday.
The defending champions OHs made the intentions clear as they went to the first half break leading with 24 points restricting OMs to fruitless counter-attacks in the second period. OHs assistant coach Lovemore Kuzorera praised his team for winning the game.
“I am very happy with the team for the good results regardless of having young players who have just finished their high school as well as losing four players to Germany,” said Kuzorera.
However the national team coach Brendon Dawson said the teams needed to lift the standard of the game.
“The skill level in the clubs is still lagging behind and there were a lot of drop balls which shows lack of adequate skills among players. These players are not fit, they need to work on their fitness so that they can give impressive results at international level,” said Dawson.
OMs assistant manager Paradzai Matsika justified their failure by saying they missed most of their players through to injury. In other NRL matches played yesterday; Matabeleland Busters who were playing their first match from the break moved to the third position in the league after defeating Old Georgians 28-12.
