OLD Hararians continued their dominance over Bulawayo select after they beat them at a Super Six match that was played at Hartsfield Rugby Grounds yesterday.
This was the team’s first match of the season and they lost 25-5 against the team from the capital.
The boys from the Sunshine City went to the half time break leading 18-5 and continued the dominance in the second half.
Bulawayo Select head coach Ruben Kumpasa was however, happy with the performance that his boys showed despite being on the losing side.
“I’m proud of the boys, they played good rugby even though they made mistakes, we got to their half and we failed to turn the pressure into points and when we made the mistakes we got punished,” Kumpasa said
Old Hararians head coach Munya Munda said he was happy that his boys managed to deliver on the first game of the Super Six.
“We are happy to get a win on the first game of the Super Six and we are on track to getting to the finals,” Munda said
The old rivalry was not the only rugby game being played at Bulawayo’s home of rugby.
Bulawayo province ladies were beaten by FS Raiders 34-0 and Harare Sports Club beat their fellow Northerners, Harare Province 34-7. Bulawayo select’s next Super Six game will be against Mutare next weekend.
