Old Mutual Zimbabwe plans to spread its integrated financial products dubbed the Green Zone across the country this year as it moves to bring its services closer to the informal sector, an official has said.
Old Mutual commissioned the one-stop shop financial services in 2013 with a single branch in the capital.
The services cover savings, investment, banking, insurance and property which the group’s various units such as RM Insurance will offer.
Chief executive officer Jonas Mushosho said the move was a strategic initiative to harness the informal sector whilst also consolidating the position of Old Mutual as the undisputed market leader in financial services.
“We want to become a one-stop shop for all things financial as symbolised by the Green Zone which we opened in 2013, and we want to extend the concept across the country starting this year,” he said.
“We have a strong cash generation base plus a sound balance sheet and all this has enabled us to be well positioned for growth in various ways, and the Green Zone is one of the ways we shall be pursuing,” he added.
Analysts say the move of bringing financial products closer to the ordinary person on the street was one way of enabling economic empowerment.
The first Green Zone was launched in 2013 at the intersection of Jason Moyo Avenue and Sam Nujoma Street in the capital, demonstrating the commitment of Old Mutual towards the customer and the economy at large.
Consultants in the Green Zone will be available to give product information and advice on investments and savings, financial planning, risk cover and funeral cover. — New Ziana.
