Old people’s home appeals for help

CHENGETANAI Old People’s Home in Chinhoyi is seeking assistance to enable it cater for its inmates.

The facility is home to 43 elderly persons, 29 men and 14 women, and is struggling to meet their needs.

The treasurer of the Chengetanai Board of Trustees, Mr Simba Pumhayi, said the situation at the home had reached a critical level.

“We have reached a breaking point at Chengetanai Old People’s Home,” said Mr Pumhayi.

“We urgently need help to care for our 43 residents. We rely on the generosity of donors; without their support, these vulnerable elderly individuals may suffer severely.

“Those who can assist in any way may they please reach out to me or come to my office with your donations.”

The home requires a variety of essential items, such as firewood, liquefied gas, mealie-meal, maize, sugar, gloves, masks, and adult diapers.

It also needs medical supplies, including pain relievers and medication for high blood pressure.

To make the most of its land, the home is also requesting vegetable seedlings to grow produce for its residents.
