Old-skool vibes are set to take centre stage at King’s Kraal garden in Bulawayo on 21 January as the upmarket entertainment spot welcomes South Africa-based old-skool vinyl DJ, Melusi Gruv.
The night promises a trip down memory lane with a line-up tailored for music enthusiasts who appreciate the classics.
Confirming the event details, DJ Emity Smooth said that Melusi Gruv, an accomplished Zimbabwean old-skool DJ now based in South Africa, will headline the event supported by him and Kead Wikead.
Melusi Gruv, recognised as one of the top vinyl DJs on the South African scene, is renowned for his diverse collection spanning Afro and Smooth Jazz, 90’s RnB and hip-hop, 80’s soul, funk and disco, 80’s South African Bubblegum, reggae and house.
“Recognised as one of the leading vinyl DJs in South Africa, Melusi Gruv has made a significant impact on the music scene. Since his relocation from
Zimbabwe to South Africa, he has showcased his talent in diverse settings, including restaurants, hotels, pubs and specialised vinyl-themed events.
“Having played at esteemed venues in South Africa like Radisson Blu hotel in Rosebank, The Houghton Hotel and KayaFM’s Soul kaPlata, Melusi Gruv brings a wealth of experience and a unique vinyl-themed approach to the Bulawayo audience,” Emity Smooth said.
He added: “We have old-skool music purists, and we’re convinced that we’ll deliver the best for them.”
Emity Smooth and Kead Wikead, both seasoned local DJs with over two decades of experience each, will undeniably complement the night with their signature styles. Emity Smooth, known for his deadpan expression and humorous interactions between tracks, will bring an intimate and personal touch to his sets. On the other hand, Kead Wikead, a master of old-skool music, will create a musical journey that will captivate audiences.
