UK based businesswoman and social media influencer Olinda Chapel is now off the hook after charges were withdrawn before plea in her cyber bullying case.
Chapel stood accused of bullying her lover Desmond Stunner Chideme’s ex-wife, Dyonne Tafirenyika in a Facebook live video.
Chapel appeared before Harare magistrate Ruth Moyo where the State told the court that they will no longer pursuing their case against her and withdrew charges
The State had claimed that on December 17, Chapel unlawfully and intentionally by means of a Facebook live video generated and sent a video shouting at Tafirenyika calling her a prostitute.
Chapel was said to have threatened to deal with her posted on social media accessible by any person with the intention to intimidate or harrass, threaten bully or cause substantial emotional destress or to degrade, humiliate or demean Tafirenyika.

Meanwhile, in a development linked to the cyberbullying case, Olinda has decided to close her charitable foundation that has positively impacted many lives.
“It’s with a very heavy heart and from a broken place. I have done my best for my country. I never sought recognition, and it never changed my character,” Olinda expressed in a post that has since sparked widespread feedback.
While some have questioned her decision, others have offered their support.
“I have spent many years serving the community with my hard-earned money. I have fed the homeless, paid fees, provided free nurse aide training, and helped with funerals.
“I have advocated against domestic violence for both women and children. I have assisted in starting businesses and have been a mentor. I have fed many families during COVID.
“I have supported those with HIV/AIDS and assisted with medical issues. I have fed thousands of homeless children and even reunited some with their families.
“All this, and many more, have been done with my hard-earned money, taking food off my own children’s plates to support those in need. That would have been my legacy.”
After years of charity work, Olinda conceded that she now needs to fully concentrate on her family. “From today, I need to look out for myself and my children only. With a heavy heart, The Olinda Chapel Foundation has come to an end. “My heart and spirit have been broken. I am neither asking for sympathy nor applause. For those who know, know what role I have played.”
Olinda urged people to stop approaching her for help, emphasising her need to concentrate on her close family members, especially her children. “Please may I kindly ask you to stop sending me messages for help? How can I help or support others when my own daughter is suffering? God bless you all, and I hope God has someone else to fill my shoes,” she said.
