One killed, three injured in Masvingo-Harare highway head-on collision

One person was killed while three others were injured after a Toyota Hilux vehicle they were traveling in encroached into the lane of an oncoming haulage truck, resulting in a head-on collision near Gokomere Mission along the Masvingo-Harare highway yesterday.

McAuliffe Nhika (27) of Gondo village in Marondera died on admission at Masvingo General Hospital after he and three others who were traveling in his vehicle emerged worse off from the head-on collision with the haulage truck at the 281km peg along the highway.

Masvingo provincial police spokesperson Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa says Nhika died in hospital after sustaining a fractured leg and a hand.

”The Toyota Hilux vehicle carrying the now deceased was carrying 4 people including the driver and was coming from Harare when it encroached into the lane of a haulage truck going the opposite direction.

“No one in the haulage truck was injured,” said Inspector Dhewa.
