LONDON. – Eamonn Holmes, one of the most prominent faces on British television, has been missing from his breakfast show since last week – after being accused of falling asleep on air.
The presenter, 66, usually co-hosts with Ellie Costello three days a week from Monday to Wednesday.
However, since signing off on Wednesday last week, Eamonn hasn’t been seen back on GB News – with a spokesman telling The Sun he is on annual leave.
Viewers had raised concerns and called for bosses to step in after they watched him struggle through his last broadcast.
Now some are questioning the reason behind his absence.
One said: “It looks like Eamonn Holmes has been axed by GBNEWS for falling asleep live on air while presenting the breakfast show.
“He has been replaced. This is brutal, but its showbiz baby. No excuse falling asleep on set. Unprofessional.”
Another asked: “Where have you been Eamonn?”
A GB News spokesman told us: “There’s no mystery. He’s on annual leave and enjoying celebrating St Patrick’s Day with friends.”
Despite being off-screen, Eamonn has been posting on his social media after attending a celebrity event in aid of Cancer Research UK on Monday. He later shared a snap of himself in the car with his former television co-host Anthea Turner. – The Sun
