ORGANISERS for the 2023 Nedbank Tour de Great Dyke have launched an online registration portal for the 2-4 November event.
The portal gives those intending to participate all the information they need to know about the race. It is among the country’s biggest cycle races and attracts participants from beyond the country’s borders making it a premier event in the sporting discipline.
The event will start at Zimplats in Selous near Norton on November 2 and be run through three legs culminating in the final that will see participating cyclists finishing in Zvishavane.
Organisers of the event are YAFM who have partnered with Nedbank and platinum mining companies Unki, Mimosa and Zimplats to come up with a top race that is set to attract the best there is in the land.

According to the event organiser, Gabriel Choga, the three-day event is meant to promote wellness, opportunities and charity.
“Cycling is a relatable and enjoyable wellness activity and I am urging cyclists from far and wide to visit the Nedbank Tour de Great Dyke portal to register to participate. Cycling novices are invited too,” said Choga.
He said emphasis on well-being was a key factor in unlocking opportunities in the Great Dyke, Zimbabwe’s premier mining stretch that runs almost the length of the country through a number of provinces.
A minimum of 300 amateur and professional cyclists are expected to register to take part in the event which has been broken into three segments of varying distances. On November 2, cyclists will cycle from Selous to Kwekwe. The second day race will be from Kwekwe to Shurugwi with the final on November 4, Shurugwi to Zvishavane.
In 2016 the event was launched with the aim of promoting miner wellness and raising awareness of the investment opportunities along the 550km long Great Dyke which is 12km wide but has a wider reach in its stretch across Zimbabwe.
Other companies who are partners include Cimas, Traffic Safety Council of Zimbabwe, Econet Wireless, Nyaradzo, Simbisa Brands, Exide Batteries, Sterling Hotels, Dandemutande, Pote Holdings and the Midlands State University.
