LIVERPOOL are closing in on an agreement for Paris Saint-Germain star Bradley Barcola.

The Reds are in the hunt for a new star on the wing following the departure of Mohamed Salah at the end of last season.

The French champions originally quoted suitors for the 23-year-old with a price tag of £145million.

But the Times claim that a deal could now be struck for something in the region of £115m.

That fee would provisionally make him the club’s second most expensive signing ever, just less than the £125million paid for Alexander Isak last summer.

The monster sum could be part of a late Premier League transfer rush reaching sums of over £1 BILLION.

Several deals have neared or broken the £100m mark so far this summer, including Elliot Anderson‘s move to Manchester City and Morgan Rogers‘ switch to Chelsea.

While other deals in that region are still under negotiation, with Enzo Fernandez linked to a City move, while Arsenal battle for Julian Alvarez‘s signature.

Nicolas Jackson‘s £65million agreement to move to Aston Villa looks like a reasonable fee in comparison, but still constitutes a record for the side.

If those deals go through, among other, it could amount to £1bn spent in the final fortnight of the window alone, per the Telegraph.

Barcola has been the subject of strong interest to Andoni Iraola and Co since the start of the window.

And it wasn’t just the Anfield club sniffing around him, with Mikel Arteta‘s title-winning Arsenal also weighing up a move to upgrade their wide attack with the star.

The France international impressed at the World Cup, scoring three times at the tournament despite often being used as an impact substitute.

He also played a significant role in his club’s back to back Champions League triumphs – Sun.
