Lawyer and well known Government critic Mr Arnold Tsunga has hailed Zimbabwe after the country was recently listed among the top 10 most visited countries in Africa.
The African Exponent, a leading pan-African news group, ranked Zimbabwe the sixth most visited nation with an average of two million visitors every year.
Commenting on the latest development on his Facebook account, Mr Tsunga said sometimes the toxicity and negativity around Zimbabwean politics made it difficult for people to realise the beauty of Zimbabwe.
“Sometimes the toxicity and negativity makes us not realise how our country is such a treasure,” he posted on Facebook.
“On the other hand, if someone compiles a list of countries with most outward migration as a proportion to the total population, Zimbabwe could be tops as well.”
This comes at a time the country’s tourism sector is on an unprecedented growth trajectory registering a massive growth in both domestic international tourism.
However, the nation is currently facing a major setback in marketing the brand Zimbabwe as opposition politicians and activists are continuously sabotaging the Government’s efforts to project a positive image of the country.
The endorsement of Zimbabwe as a tourist destination of choice comes after numerous similar endorsements.
Zimbabwe is endowed with both natural and man-made attractions such as the Victoria Falls — one of the seven natural wonders of the world — Matopo Hills, Great Zimbabwe Monuments and wildlife in Hwange, Zambezi, Mana Pools and Gonarezhou National parks among others.
Egypt topped the list with an annual average of 13 million visitors followed by Morocco with an average of 12 million visitors every year while South Africa was in third position with an average of 10 million.
The other most visited nations are Tunisia, Algeria, Mozambique, Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda.
