THE 16th edition of the Kwekwe Invitational Karate Championships has been hailed as a huge success after more than 100 athletes turned out at Queens Sports Club over the weekend.
Tournament organiser, Sensei Shepherd Ziwira, said everything went according to plan and thanked their major sponsor Energy “Dhala” Ncube.
“The tournament was a huge success as we had over 100 athletes taking part across all age groups,” Ziwira said.
In the kids categories, Spiwe Ncube managed to get the better of Mikayla Mangezi while Aiden Ziwira beat Thatho Kamacho.
Ashleigh Madekubve won the gold medal after beating Rujeko Muzura.
Mzingaye Makudo beat Levhuwani Moyo in the unde-12 boys category.
Ardon Marapira beat Tinotenda Kubvuruno in Kumite style.
Zvikomborero Moyo beat Tonderai Mugaragumbo in Kata and, in the girls section, Nicole Sibanda beat Buhlebenkosi Moyo.
Lucky Dube was impressive as he beat Brooklyn Bangindza in the kumite final.
In the girls section, Shasmeen Yalabi, beat Juanita Kadzombe.
In the under-60kgs, Tanyaradzwa Ziwira beat Rowen Nezhou while Lanceburg Mawachi outclassed Alvin Muderedzwa in the under-67kgs category.
Tinashe Musa beat Trininty Kotsi in the under-75kg category.
