WITH over three dozen nightspots under their belt, a top nightclub and entertainment management company has taken over popular joint Club Forty40 for massive renovations and re-entry into the local entertainment scene.
Club Forty40, an iconic joint that has been closed for years will bounce back into the nightclub scene as Origins.
The name Origins, according to Biggie Chinoperekwei, is inspired by the desire to start afresh, yet not completely forgetting that the new joint will be housed in a building that has so much history with the city’s entertainment and nightlife.
Who would forget when the joint, which at some point was known as Visions, hosted the famous ‘Afternoon Sessions’ that attracted young adults with a niche for the club scene but preferred dancing away to their favourite jams on weekend afternoons.
A few club owners have come and gone, but today, the joint situated on Robert Mugabe Way and 13th Avenue still stands and is now ready to welcome revellers under a new name and Chinoperekwei’s management.
“We’re extremely confident that Origins will change the face of entertainment in Bulawayo, given its location and our years of experience in running over 40 nightclubs throughout the country. The new name signals our desire to go back to where the nightclub started, its history with the people of Bulawayo, and what it represents to the entertainment scene in the city,” explained Chinoperekwei.
Because of the number of years that the club has spent closed to the public, the area around it is now frequented by sex workers conducting their business under the cover of darkness. The new owners have the solution to provide a safe space in and around the club to give their customers value for money and peace of mind.
“Security will be beefed up; we want our clients to feel safe in the nightclub and to also never worry about the safety of their vehicles in the parking lot,” he said.
Asked when the spot would open its doors to the public, Chinoperekwei said: “We hope to announce the opening dates soon, but that will all depend on the rate our contractors will take to finish the renovations.”
He said their aim is to be the nightclub of choice for the city’s revellers and even people coming from out of town. “Our experience in the entertainment industry is unmatched thus our clients are guaranteed value for money at all times.”
In its heyday, the nightclub used to host celebrated DJs like Oskido, Dj Fresh, Dj Sbu, Peter Jones (late), Dj Waxxy, Dj Euphonic, Dj Christos, Dj Vinny da Vinci, Dj Sox, Dj Zinhle, Dj Cyndo and DJ Cleo together with acts such as Mafikizolo and the new owners have promised not to leave any stone unturned in their quest to lure some of the best artistes to Origins. – @RaymondJaravaza
