The bicycle will be used by disabled children at the centre in exercises designed to help them overcome disabilities they have suffered either from birth following an accident.

Later in the afternoon, the French ambassador presented toys valued at $ 10 000 dollars to the Chinyaradzo and Matthew Rusike orphanages.

The goods were presented to the two matrons of the homes, Cde Stella Marere of Chinyaradzo and Cde Ruth Tsekwende of Matthew Rusike whose homes will share the toys equally.

Speaking at the Chinyaradzo home yesterday, Mr Garrigue-Guyonnaund said the gifts were the French gesture of solidarity with Zimbabwe during the festive season.

LESSONS FOR TODAY

  • The Christmas season is a time to be joyful. It is a time to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. It is also a time for sharing gifts, which is symbolic of the gifts given to baby Jesus by the three wise men from the east (Magi).
  • The coming of the Lord Jesus is in itself a major gift to humanity by God the Father. Jesus came to redeem people redemption of their sins.
  • More significantly, it is about remembering and giving something to the needy in our society such as orphans and the elderly since the Lord Jesus Christ has a soft spot for the needy.
  • Christmas can only be truly special if people share the Christmas spirit through sharing what they have with those that do not have and bringing a smile to everyone’s face.
