Orthodox Six’s Street Child hits small screen

The track is taken from his upcoming 15-track album King of Kingsville which is set to be released in August.

In an interview on Monday, Orthodox Six said he decided to rap about social issues to persuade the people to address them.

He said he was inspired by local artistes who sang about the hardships faced by street children.

“People are not addressing social issues hence the street kids are facing hardships on the streets.

Oliver Mtukudzi, and the late Don Gumbo inspired  my music. I decided to play my part by also highlighting the plight of street kids,” said Orthodox Six.

He said the video was shot in two days in and around the city and would be distributed to ZBCtv and DStv’s Channel O.

“The video took two days to shoot all the scenes we needed. We shot in the central business district and in Makokoba. Our next port of call would be to take it to ZBCTv and also Channel O. This would spread local music to other parts of the region,” said Orthodox.

The director of the video, Tawanda “T-Krud” Mauchaza said the downfall of most artistes was substandard music videos.

He said they did not use a lot of money to come up with the video for Street Child because they knew what to do.

“We worked with limited equipment and coming up with the video was all about knowing what you are doing. Most artistes lose it at this crucial stage,” said T-Krud.

He however said their major challenge was finding places to shoot scenes as owners of properties were not keen in engaging them.

“People have associated us musicians with shoddy projects and we hunted for scenes around the city and we came up with nothing. I think during the project that was our major setback,” said T-Krud.

Turning to the upcoming album Orthodox Six said it feature artistes such as Maskiri, Centre Party and an up-and-coming artiste, TK the Newborn.
