Our local artistes are the ‘best’

Local is lekker!

Music is universal and that is a fact and when it comes to it many want variety to spruce up the fun.

That is why, besides business wise model we invite trending artistes globally to come perform for their local fans.

Saturday was “flimflam” in Kadoma at the Odyssey Lodge for the South African lady of the moment, songstress Makhadzi and Jah Prayzah show dubbed the “Kadoma festival”.

For progress’s sake let’s agree it was a festival “fiesta” for that matter as it had several supporting local acts who then stole the show with their electrifying and well decorated act.

On the line up include seasoned musician ExQ, Marcy, Dj LRoy and Charles Pintec among others.

Well Kadoma being known as a small ‘shanty’ town saw the “Amakorokoza” from nearby towns also coming to have a good time of their life.

Of course, as a weekend they needed to clean their sweat to enjoy local music and Makhadzi at the Odyssey.

The venue was packed, especially the general entry, while the VIP area which constituted mostly Hararians and Makhadzi fans.

Close sources also said hotels and lodges were fully booked.

Stage work was correct considering it was one of the biggest shows in 2022 for Kadoma.

Dj LRoy sailed flawlessly well during his presentation though was a bit lukewarm considering the crowd.

What he can be commended for was he managed to accommodate everyone from sungura, hiphop, Zimdancehall to afro pop and mind you due to some circumstances beyond their control he ended up as the master of ceremony.

Prior to the marketing of the show, comedienne Madam Boss was scheduled to take centre stage but was later involved in an accident on her way to Kadoma resulting in her being hospitalised.

The only challenge which affected the stage work was time factor clearing the stage of which Dj Lroy covered up entertaining the fans.

However, some were later agitated and could not respond to his vibe as they waited a long time for the next act to come.

Much of the crowd especially in the general access could not stomach that or they were much used to unscripted shows.

Marcy and Pintec performed very well, befitting the show “Kadoma Festival” tribute.

The climax of the show now was when ExQ took the stage warming up for the headline act.

Well the “Musalala” hit maker performed as he was the headline act.

He put up a scintillating show, performing his old and new songs to a sing along crowd.

Chilled, calm and collected as he was, ExQ rekindled his romance with his fans.

He had his male dancers who perfected the set and not to forget the drummer and Dj Tamuka.

Indeed, it was a “Gweru” affair.

He left the stage as fans were clamoring for more. Besides giving fans the value for their money, he fell into the script.

Now as midnight strikes, star attraction Makhadzi came clad in a green leotard suit.

As she is known for her energy, she did not disappoint.

Her energy level seems to be on steroids.

She came, saw and conquered.

Unfortunately, compared to her show months ago in Zimbabwe, this one in Kadoma was an average one.

Was it because she was using a backtrack which somehow did a ‘little’ injustice to her performance.

But with her cheerful smile and energetic moves it was difficult to notice somehow.

Makhadzi will always be Makhadzi.

Good vibe describes her.

Then surprisingly not on the line up Baba Harare and Mai Titi did their thing “Rita” in jovial to the crowd.

They warmed the stage for Jah Prayzah whose playlist was par excellence.

He delivered a well-polished act, the international standard style.

He dished out crowds’ favorites and stamped authority that we are in the “local territorial zone”.

Revellers could dance tune after tune and it seems the ‘gold miners’ were waiting for Jah Prayzah as they could not have enough of him.

Among the attendees at the show included top local business personalities, diplomats, musicians, celebrities and models among others.
