Zimbabweans are expressing outrage on social media after Selmor Mtukudzi, the daughter of the late legendary musician Oliver Mtukudzi, was excluded from her father’s festival.
Selmor Mtukudzi, who is also a musician in her own right, was snubbed from the Oliver Mtukudzi International Festival of the Arts, sparking a storm on social media.
The matter came to light after the organizers of the Oliver Mtukudzi International Festival of the Arts released the festival poster and the list of performing artists.
The festival, scheduled to take place from September 21st to 22nd, will feature popular artists such as Jah Prayzah, Feli Nandi, Gemma Griffiths, Killer T, and Hope Masike.
Social media users quickly noticed that Selmor Mtukudzi was missing from the lineup, leading to questions about her exclusion. Fans of the late Oliver Mtukudzi expressed their displeasure with her omission from her father’s festival.
Taking to social media, netizens expressed outrage at the festival organizers and Oliver Mtukudzi’s widow, Daisy, for snubbing Selmor. Social media users threatened to boycott the festival if Selmor Mtukudzi is not included in the lineup. Some also called on the invited artists to stand in solidarity with Selmor by refusing to perform if she is not added.
Social media users argued that Selmor Mtukudzi, the daughter of the late Oliver Mtukudzi, should have been the main headlining act, given that she is the true heir to Tuku’s legacy. They asserted that a festival celebrating Oliver Mtukudzi cannot be complete without Selmor Mtukudzi.

The Oliver Mtukudzi International Festival of the Arts and l tried to see where @SelmorMtukudzi name is and l couldn’t find it.
Now to me this is where l draw a line,l don’t support family divisions and selfishness.This is Selmors father why is she not on the list of artists performing during the 2 days?

Selmor is the only Mtukudzi brand left, we can’t celebrate @TukuOfficial and not have the only living brand carrier to the organizers by public demand we need Selmor…She should be the headline and perform all the days of the Festival, ndiye Tuku Music asara zvenhaka nekumakana is not for the public Tuku himself was a goodwill ambassador please respect his legacy.
