The Zanu PF Heritage Group Trust has intensified its youth and community empowerment drive after more than 100 youths and community members attended a free Basic Dairy Farming workshop in Masvingo over the weekend.
The Trust, which was launched at Zanu PF headquarters in 2024, seeks to support war veterans, their children and young people through practical empowerment programmes, while also safeguarding Zimbabwe’s liberation legacy, culture and traditions.
Confirming the development, the Trust’s national chief research officer, Cde Shadreck Chikwanda, said the Masvingo training formed part of a broader national programme aimed at equipping youths with income-generating skills.
“We conducted a basic dairy training course in Masvingo, which was attended by more than 100 youths as we continue to empower young people across the country,” said Cde Chikwanda.
“As we have always said, we are not only focused on reburying fallen heroes to ensure they receive dignified burials, but also on empowering the youths through sustainable projects and programmes.”
The three-day workshop was facilitated by National Executive Board member, Cde Jabulani Mbetu, with the next training programme scheduled to be held in Manicaland Province.
The Trust’s National Secretary for Empowerment, Cde Vongai Mutingwende, said she was encouraged by the strong turnout and growing interest in business – oriented agricultural training, particularly in rural communities.
“We had an overwhelming response, especially from Ward 29, where the community was very cooperative and supportive,” she said.
“We will continue empowering people with skills that sustain rural livelihoods.”
Agritex extension officer, Mrs Betina, Muzambirwa welcomed the initiative, saying the training aligned with long-standing efforts to build capacity within the agricultural sector.
“It has always been my wish to see people in agriculture empowered with practical knowledge and recognised certificates of attainment,” she said.
Among the participants was Cde Felix Goko, a former opposition supporter who has since rejoined Zanu PF.
Speaking during the event, Cde Goko said his decision was influenced by Government-led empowerment initiatives under President Mnangagwa’s leadership.
“I joined the opposition before 2017, but this year I decided to join the ruling party,” he said. “Under President Mnangagwa’s leadership, people are being empowered, infrastructure is being developed, and the policy of leaving no one and no place behind is being implemented.”
