MORE than 177 junior police officers of the rank of sergeant major graduated last week after undergoing a developmental course which is aimed at improving service delivery to the public.
Of the 177 officers, 81 concluded their course at Buchwa Training Centre while the other 96 were at Shamva Battle Camp.
National police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi said, “A total of 81 Sergeant Majors concluded a developmental course at ZRP Buchwa Training Centre on September 25, 2026. The course is part of the Police’s quest to improve service delivery to Zimbabweans by members at various Police Stations in the country.
“Meanwhile, another group of 96 Sergeant majors concluded a similar developmental course at ZRP Shamva Battle Camp on September 25, 2026.”
Junior police officers are continuing to undergo retraining countrywide aimed at improving crime management, community policing and stewardship in the country.
According to the Police Service, the junior officers are also expected to be disciplined and perform their duties with integrity following their retraining.
In July more junior officers graduated at Buchwa Training Centre and also at Shamva Battle Camp.
Most of them were stationed at various police stations where they deputise the officer-in-charge of stations.
