Over 4 300 inmates to be released under Presidential Amnesty

The Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service has announced that 4 305 inmates will be released under Presidential Amnesty Clemency Order Number 1 of 2026.

During a press conference today, Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ziyambi Ziyambi said 3 755 inmates will be released immediately across the country, while the remainder will be released in a staggered manner.

This decision follows the Government’s official gazette released on 20 February, 2026.

Among those set to be released, 223 are female, while 4 082 are male.
