Over 90 golfers expected at Mayor’s Cheer Fund tourney

The tournament, which will use the Four Ball Better Ball format, is meant to raise funds for the Mayor’s Christmas Cheer Fund.
Bulawayo City Council’s senior public relations officer Nesisa Mpofu said all was set for the tourney.

“So far we have 23 teams of four each that  have confirmed their participation in the tournament. Our prize giving function is tomorrow evening,” she said.
The fundraising tournament was initially expected to be held last month but was moved to today as most golfers participating in the tournament were playing in a tournament that was held in the capital.

Speaking in an earlier interview last month, Mpofu said they were hoping to have the tournament on an annual basis.
She said the plan was to rotate the tournament among the three golf clubs in the city which are Harry Allan, Bulawayo Country Club and the country’s oldest golf course, Bulawayo Golf Club.
