Two Seke men appeared before a Chitungwiza magistrate for allegedly raping an 11-year-old girl. Tendai Tekere (37) and Frank Sengai (19) were not asked to plead when they appeared before magistrate Ms Estere Chivasa last Friday.

They were remanded in custody to February 9. The prosecutor Mr Tendai Mukariri is alleging that on January 23 this year at around 8pm, Tekere and Sengai visited the complainant’s house.

They asked her to escort them to the shops. The suspects lied to the girl that they wanted to buy her chicken for supper. They later diverted the girl into a bushy area. Tekere allegedly ordered the girl to lie down but she refused.

He forced a toilet paper into the minor’s mouth when she tried to call for help. Tekere and Sengai allegedly undressed the complainant and raped her. They threatened to kill the victim if she revealed her ordeal to anyone. The girl alerted a passer-by and the matter was reported to the police, leading to the accused pair’s arrest
