Pakamisa is not an ordinary addition to the Glamour Boys’ team.
He was once a captain of rivals CAPS United, his childhood team that gave him as a break as a teenage player, and his arrival at DeMbare must have been viewed with suspicion by some of the club’s die-hard fans.
That he failed to shine only added to the pressure.
But on Wednesday, the forward produced one of the finest individual performances of the season with a quality show spiced by two great goals, one a superb volley from range, the other a tidy finish to a move he started.
The joke in town these days is that Dynamos coach Callisto Pasuwa keeps on referring at going back to the drawing board and that’s the reason the Harare giants have picked up the highest number of draws from the Castle Lager Premiership so far this season.
So it was probably not surprising that the match ended in a draw and ‘keeper Artwell Mukandi should shoulder some of the blame, for his schoolboy error that gave the visitors a lifeline and equaliser, when his wild clearance, when he should have handled the ball comfortably, gave them a corner from where punishment was duly meted.
Every good team which wins a championship needs a good ‘keeper and Dynamos don’t look like they have one right now and Mukandi’s nervous performance hasn’t helped matters.
Neither did coach Callisto Pasuwa’s questionable decision to replace Boban Zirintutsa with Patrick Khumbula, which opened up his midfield, and gave FC Platinum ground to plot their fightback.
In the previous league matches, Pasuwa had been complaining of his blunt strike force where Francisco Zekumbawira and Allan Tavarwisa are firing blanks although he is now pleased with the progress made by Pakamisa over the last two matches.
“That’s maybe the kind of strikers we have been looking for. This time we have managed to score goals but unfortunately we could not defend,” said Pasuwa.
On Sunday, Dynamos will play Monomotapa who are also yet to get into the groove this season after holding the Premiership spellbound with their passing game last year.
Pakamisa is likely to be given another run in the team and is hopeful of continuing with his purple patch.
“For now I think it’s one of the best goals (against FC Platinum) but I hope more are coming from. Certainly, that was not a fluke goal,” said Pakamisa.
While Pakamisa was happy to be showing his potential at Dynamos, his former side CAPS United were being edged by Chicken Inn at Luveve to hand Taurai Mangwiro his first defeat since reuniting with the Green Machine.
