Palestinian delegation to deepen relations with Zim war vets

A Palestinian delegation who arrived in Zimbabwe to attend the inaugural war veterans conference slated for tomorrow in Harare said they have come to deep relation with their counterparts.

Addressing journalists at the embassy of Palestine in Harare Cde Uri Davis deputy commissioner-general for political affairs of the Palestine National Liberation Movement said we are here to strengthen the beginning of the history between Zimbabwe and Palestine.

“We are here the Palestinian delegation to attend the war veterans conference of our comrades in Zanu PF and we are here to say that our roots are strengthening. We should tell a common story to our new generations.

“We also have a great message of solidarity with the people, leadership and the Government of Zimbabwe and also to our comrades in Zanu PF. We are here to call with you for the lifting of unfair sanctions against the peaceful people of Zimbabwe and we consider it as a kind of punishment that should not be imposed on Zimbabwe,” he said.

Cde Davis said the sanctions should be imposed on Israel as the last occupation in the twenty-first century.

He said they should be a tool of punishment for countries who behave above the international law like Israel.

Cde Kifah Harb Abdalqader member of the Fatah Revolutionary Council said they hoped to receive a message of solidarity against Israeli occupation at the conference.

“We have one duty nowadays as national movements in Zimbabwe and Palestine to teach the next generation about our history,” she said.

Tamer Almassri the relationship between Zimbabwe and Palestine did not start as a diplomatic relationship but started before Zimbabwe got independent.

“It started before the independence of Zimbabwe as a value, comradeship and a brotherhood between the two countries and their two national movements. 

“When the Palestine Liberation Organisation started its relation with Zanu PF we were together and we are proud that we have our fingerprints against the same apartheid regime.

“After 1980 we got a great support from Zimbabwe strengthen the Palestinian world and its struggle against the Israel apartheid. 

“The political and diplomatic relations between the two countries are strong but we should not forget the base of this tradition that is our solidarity.”
