On Saturday Mbare and its environs will be illuminated by a revelling mood when a local joint The Place-Panzvimbo hosts some of Zimbabwe’s top female artistes during the launch of the Ladies Night. The show, organised by Joel Zoraunye, manager for The Place-Panzvimbo, a bar which opened its doors to the public earlier this August, is meant to promote female artistes, while enabling them to create rapport among themselves.
“This show is meant to promote rising stars and local celebs especially female artistes who are growing in the music industry,” said Zoraunye.
Among the artistes to perform are rising jazz musician Jean Masters and other top female artistes, who are yet to confirm their participation.
Zoraunye said Masters’ presence was as a result of public demand due to her ability to serenade fans with her energetic moves during performances.
People should expect a laid-back atmosphere as she is expected to churn out a number of hits from her two albums, “Africa” and “Misi Haifanani”.
To put the icing on the cake, there will be clash of dancing queens on the night. Dancers will be exploring their expertise and on top of the list will be Scorpion Queens and Dangerous Queens. Those who manage to steal fans’ hearts will stand to win great prizes.
Upcoming club DJs will also battle it out on the decks in between performances. DJ Turntable, DJ Fasto are expected to take centre stage.
“We are also trying to encourage and promote little-known DJs.
“We want to send a positive message that there is life in music especially for those people who play the final product,” said Zoraunye.
He took the time to urge aspiring DJs and musicians to come and witness this event as it is an initiative meant to support local music.
It will be a show not to miss with a lot of activities likely to be unveiled on that day which include a braai.
Prices will be slashed to attract as many patrons as possible and a huge turnout is expected.
