Parkview Khanka form guard of honour for 2016 winners

BULAWAYO Metropolitan Province Darts League (BMPDL) anchors Parkview Khanka will form a guard of honour for the 2016 season winners Archers tonight when the two teams clash in the champions’ final game.

Archers won the title with a 100 percent record and a game to spare last week after beating Parkview Lions 25-14 to take their points tally to an unassailable 27.

Archers’ skipper Ernest Sibanda said they will only celebrate their championship victory if they win tonight’s encounter against the league’s whipping boys.

“Obviously we’re happy to have reclaimed the title we lost to Railstars last season with a game to spare.

“However, we’ve put our celebrations on hold until we achieve the target of winning the championship without a loss and we’re just a game away from achieving that record.

“We know Parkview Khanka are at the bottom of the table, but the last kicks of a dying horse are dangerous and as such, we won’t be complacent and are going to field a strong team,” Sibanda said.

While Archers revel in glory, Parkview Khanka go into tonight’s match smarting from last week’s 17-22 home defeat to Bellevue.

The Archers’ trio of Albert Tawanda, Tafadzwa Mtomba and Brian Ndlovu, who hit six packs against Parkview Lions, is expected to lead the champions’ quest of ending the season with a 100 percent record.

Meanwhile, former champions Railstars will want to end the season strongly by winning their last two matches. The railmen, who lost twice this season to Archers, face Queens at Raylton this evening.
