WITH a couple of weeks left before the country holds the National Assembly and local authority by-elections, political parties in the Midlands province have stepped up their campaigns in a bid to woo voters.
Zanu- PF aspiring candidate for Mkoba North Constituency Cde Edgar Ncube is confident of victory in the forthcoming by-elections set for February 3.
Cde Ncube is on the ground canvassing for support to win the seat, which fell vacant after following the recall of Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) legislator Amos Chibaya by his party.
“I have been on the ground canvassing for support from the people of Mkoba North Constituency ahead of the February 3 by-election. I am confident that I will win the seat for the ruling party Zanu PF,” he said.
“Everyone knows that Zanu PF is people-centred and is the party of choice.”
Cde Ncube said that once voted, he will push for the empowerment of women and youth.
“Women and youths form more than 90 percent of the general population in the constituency. I will be quick to say this group has been seriously marginalised by the opposition and it is my wish to assist them,” he said.
Cde Ncube said the country is reeling under oppressive illegal sanctions that have made employment very difficult for graduates. He pledged to lobby for programmes that equip youths with skills.
“Skills to make detergents, soaps, lotions, and baking have since been started by Zanu-PF and I would want to take it further to include aluminium fabrication, metal fabrication, joinery and woodwork, carpentry and roofing, welding, building, motor mechanics, farming and agronomy, sports, music and arts,” he said.
