Party deploys senior members to constituencies

THE Zanu-PF Matabeleland North provincial induction workshop ended yesterday with the deployment of senior party members to constituencies won by the opposition MDC-T to supervise implementation of party programmes. Provincial chairman Cde Richard Moyo described the two-day workshop held at Elangeni Training Centre in Bulawayo as a huge success.

“One of the resolutions agreed was that we deploy non-constituency Members of Parliament and Senators under the women’s quarter to the six constituencies under the opposition to strengthen party programmes,” he said.

Cde Moyo said the Minister of State for Provincial Affairs in Matabeleland North Province, Cde Cain Mathema, was deployed to Binga North.
Cde Mail Nkomo (MP) was deployed to Binga South while former governor and senator Cde Thokozile Mathuthu was deployed to Hwange Central.

Cde Molly Mkandla (MP) will supervise party programmes in Hwange East while Cde Sikhanyisiwe Mpofu, wife to Dr Obert Mpofu, was deployed to Tsholotsho North.
Cde Madeline Bhebhe (Senator) was deployed to Nkayi South.

Cde Moyo said the workshop discussed the issue of factionalism in the party and resolved to weed it out.
“That point was buttressed. We don’t condone factionalism. It is not good for the party, it is not good for the province and does not in any way add to the development of the party and province,” he said.

The workshop discussed, among other issues, the state of the party, its performances in last year’s July 31 polls, its challenges, party’s ideology, principles and policies, concepts and strategies and appreciation of the economic blueprint Zim-Asset.
Party national chairman Cde Simon Khaya Moyo, Speaker of Parliament, Cde Jacob Mudenda, Politburo and Central Committee members attended the meeting.
