ZANU PF and the Government departments should strengthen regular reporting mechanisms and maintain a seamless working relationship to ensure the effective implementation of national development programmes, Harare Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution Charles Tawengwa has said.
Speaking at the Harare Provincial Development Committee and ZANU PF Harare Provincial Coordinating Committee meeting yesterday, Minister Tawengwa said Government remained committed to advancing the aspirations of the people through the successful implementation of party policies and national development programmes.
He said the meeting provided an opportunity for Government departments to present achievements realised under the National Development Strategy 1 at provincial level, while outlining Harare’s roadmap under the successor framework, National Development Strategy 2.
“The National Development Strategy 1, which ran from 2021 to 2025, was crafted as a bold and comprehensive blueprint to steer our nation towards the attainment of Vision 2030 of becoming a prosperous and empowered upper middle-income society,” said Minister Tawengwa.
He said Vision 2030 is anchored on the principles of inclusivity, devolution and ensuring that no place and no one is left behind.
“It is against this background that we gather here today, as the Provincial Government of Harare Metropolitan Province, to account to the party leadership on the strides made in translating this national vision into tangible results at provincial level,” he said.
Minister Tawengwa described the meeting as a demonstration of the strong and enduring partnership between ZANU PF and Government, stressing that the party remains supreme over Government.
“It is important that we remain grounded in the principle that the party is supreme over Government,” he said.
Minister Tawengwa said Harare Province recorded notable progress under NDS1 across several key result areas, including infrastructure development, health and education service delivery, food and nutrition security, housing, environmental protection, and the empowerment of women, youths and persons with disabilities.
