Another suspect has been arrested in the rot at the Registrar General’s Office which resulted in the issuance of passports to a quartet of Cameroonian nationals.

Chipo Matovanyika appeared before magistrate Stanford Mambanje, who remanded her in custody.

She is employed by the Registrar General’s Office in the passport collection department.

Allegations are that on September 17 the four Cameroonians nationals Christiana BoyembeDumba, Emile MuyaMuya, Marvel NgeiTegha and Yvette KumNnam successfully applied for Zimbabwean passports at the Registrar General’s Office in Harare.

Two days later, the quartet was issued with passports illegally.

The passports were handed over to them by Tapiwanashe Hove and his two accomplices.

The Cameroonians travelled to Beitbridge Border Post, en-route to South Africa, where they were all arrested at Beitbridge Border Post by Immigration Officers and the four passports were recovered.

On September 20, Hove, acting in connivance with Matovanyika, tried to destroy evidence at the Registrar General’s Office.

Tambudzai Masamvi appeared for the State.
