THE son of Pastor Godfrey Kudita of Word Impact Ministries is being accused of allegedly raping a 14-year-old relative, on a number of occasions in South Africa last year, and the explosive revelations have divided the family.
Godfrey Kudita Junior, 34, who is also known as Nana, allegedly used alcohol and drugs to ensure that the teenager would get drunk and then showed her pornographic material before allegedly raping her on various occasions.
He would then allegedly feed her with morning after pills after every occasion that he allegedly raped her.
It got so bad, according to the sources, that the pharmacist, where Junior allegedly bought the morning after drugs, ended up telling him that the next time he came to buy the pills, he should bring the woman along with him.
“At some point, the pharmacist told him that he should know that these pills had the potential of damaging the health of the woman who was taking them.
“He told him it was important for him to know that there were long-term and short-term risks of taking these pills in such quantities and told him that the next trip he should bring the person who was taking the pills so that the pharmacist would explain to her the risks involved.
“When the crime was finally exposed, a family member of the teenager went to see the same pharmacist and showed him Junior’s photo, as they were discussing the issue related to these pills, and he positively identified him as his client and talked about his concerns.”
The sickening sexual attacks are said to have happened when the teenager’s parents were in India, where they spent six months last year, while undergoing some medical procedures.
Sources said the parents gave Junior, who was staying at their home in South Africa where he was doing some computer studies, the responsibility to look after their kids while they were away in India.
But, according to the sources, the guardian allegedly turned into a monster who then took advantage of their absence to allegedly rape their daughter on a number of occasions.
Sources said Junior allegedly hacked the mobile phone of the teenager’s aunt, the other guardian who was left to look after the kids by their parents, when they were in India for the medical procedures.
The decision to hack the phone, said the sources, was a plot to ensure that he would monitor all her communications, with the child’s parents, and ensure that he would be the first to know if she was passing any information related to his suspected sexual attacks.
The teenager’s father and Junior’s father, Prophet Godfrey Kudita, are brothers.
Ironically, the teenager stayed at Pastor Godfrey Kudita’s house here in Harare for two years when she was in Grade 6 and Grade 7.
After the teenager eventually disclosed the abuse to one of her relatives, the shocking revelations resulted in the two families, and their extended families, convening meetings to discuss the sickening abuse.
Many of these meetings were recorded by some of the relatives and H-Metro has copies of some of the recordings.
The meetings have resulted in delays in efforts by some members of the family, who feel very hurt by the way the teenager was abused, from reporting the case to the police.
Even though the abuse surfaced last year, the case is still to be reported to the police.
In one of the audios, Junior is heard apparently confessing that what he did was wrong and asking for an apology from the teenager’s brother.
“I can’t justify anything,” he is heard saying in the phone call.
“I’m saying I know you are angry and you’ve got a lot to say.
“I’m just calling to say if I said anything offensive yesterday, I don’t want anyone to feel sorry for me.
“I’m not trying to do any reverse psychology. Ndakam****a Maxwell, Ndakama****a and ndiri kuzviziva.
“I’m sorry if I said anything offensive yesterday. I’m very sorry.”
The teenager’s brother then responded, in a very angry tone.
“If you want my honest truth GJ, if you’re really sorry, just kill yourself bro.
“That’s what will make me happy, that’s what will give me peace, that’s the honest truth.
“The money I was sending you, you were buying morning after pills for my 14-year-old sister.”
Pastor Kudita, who runs a show on radio, also addressed the issue.
“My position regarding this issue has always been the same,” he says in a recorded message.
“We’re all devastated and this has never been taken lightly but, at the end of the day, the bottom line is that every decision and the next move belongs to you.
“If there is collateral damage from whichever decision you take on the ministry, He who began the work is the one who knows what to do with (it).
“It’s something that we cannot do anything about but if it appeases you to take the next move in whatever decision you take, we will always understand where you’re coming from.”
He added:
“At the end of the day, it’s your prerogative, if it goes a long way to fulfilling your objectives of appeasement, we will respect that.
“We are in solidarity with your position and we will not be able to take any position with regards to your next move because we are conflicted.
“As much as we love Nana, and he also remains our son, we will not get involved.
“You do not need any permission from us to do whatever you want to do. You can proceed in whatever direction the Lord leads you to.
“We will always understand and if it gives you peace and, maybe, settlement and closure of this issue, whatever direction it will take, it will always be respected. God bless you.”
