BARRING any hastily-arranged international friendly match involving Zimbabwe’s senior team, Dynamos gaffer Callisto Pasuwa is set to perform his first official assignment as interim Warriors coach next month when he attends a Fifa technical conference in Cairo, Egypt. Pasuwa effectively became the de facto Warriors coach when he was named the substantive Under-23 mentor while Zifa announced that they would be focusing their attention on the Young Warriors squad with a view to building a squad that would play in the Olympic Games qualifiers and eventually form the core of the senior side.
The technical conference in Cairo, which is scheduled for September 30 to October 1, will be attended by head coaches and technical directors of all Fifa member associations and it will discuss a technical review of the 2014 World Cup.
Zifa chief executive Jonathan Mashingaidze confirmed yesterday that Pasuwa would be in the company of the association’s technical director Maxwell Takaendesa Jongwe on the trip to Cairo.
Fifa earlier announced through the Confederation of African Football website that the technical conferences would be staged at Confederation level with the African coaches meeting in the Egyptian capital.
“Fifa is pleased to announce the start of the post-2014 Fifa World Cup Brazil Technical Conferences that will be jointly organised with the confederations and open to all 209 member associations.
“The events are meant to become key platforms in order for Fifa, the confederations and the member associations to focus on the technical and tactical analysis and findings of the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
“The head coaches and technical directors of all FIFA member associations have been invited to attend the conferences, which will cover the following areas:
Report from the Fifa Technical Study Group
Technical and tactical analysis of the 2014 Fifa World Cup
Coaching and football development trends following the 2014 Fifa World Cup
Tribute to the Fifa World Cup champions (Germany)
Medical matters
Refereeing
Specific talking points’’.
Fifa secretary-general Jerome Valcke described the conferences as vital educational tool for the development of the game.
“These conferences are essential platforms that enable us to share the main technical findings from the Fifa World Cup with the confederations and member associations, thus becoming a concrete educational tool to promote football development around the world,” said Valcke.
Fifa indicated that their technical study group had now completed its report on the World Cup, almost a month after the final pitting eventual champions Germany and Argentina.
Fifa want the coaches and the technical directors to use the conferences to carry out a tactical and technical analysis of the games that held the world spellbound for a month.
“The events are intended as platforms for Fifa, the confederations and the member associations to focus on the technical and tactical analysis of the 2014 Fifa World Cup. The head coaches and technical directors of all Fifa member associations have been invited to join the conferences.
“In addition to the presentation of the 2014 Fifa World Cup report produced by the Fifa TSG, at each event the delegations will look at the coaching and football development trends following Fifa’s flagship event, as well as medical and refereeing matters.
A special session will focus on Fifa World Cup champions Germany,’’ Fifa said.
