A sanctuary dedicated to women’s wellness and beauty has taken root in Bulawayo. PizzySpa, the brainchild of visionary Patience Moyo, stands as a testament to the power of self-care and the pursuit of entrepreneurial dreams.
The spa is committed to providing a space where women can unwind and indulge in a suite of beauty treatments, it’s a much-needed escape from the daily grind.
Tucked away near the Watering Hole within a chic boutique, PizzySpa serves the working class with a touch of luxury. Here, women find solace and rejuvenation, a place to shed the burdens of stress and embrace the art of self-care. Patience, in her interview with Saturday Chronicle, highlighted the spa’s ethos.
“Working class people deal with a lot of pressure, they end up getting sick and taking massage treatments to get better. Stress, depression, anxiety, relaxing the body it’s all about self-care loving yourself and keeping healthy,” she said.
PizzySpa is not just about beauty; it’s a journey to self-discovery.

“PizzySpa is a beauty that allows the female folks to have their beauty satisfaction in one converted visit. At PizzySpa the look is what matters to us and we know that one couldn’t possibly achieve the type of look she wants, this is why we have done our part well and have come up with the type of services that we will be offering the public,” Patience explained.
The success of PizzySpa is evident in Patience’s achievements.
“I have achieved so much on the spa business in the sense that I am managing to pay my bills which includes rentals, fees to mention but few. I also managed to buy all the cosmetics needed by the customers and sent my child to school,” said Patience.
PizzySpa prides itself in offering aesthecian services in a compassionate upscale professional environment. We have targeted potential clients seeking injury recovery, self-pampering and relaxation,” added 33-year-old Patience.
Yet, the journey is not without its challenges. Raising awareness for beauty and massage services is an ongoing battle, one that Patience confronts with a robust social media presence.
To women everywhere, Patience’s message resonates with hope and determination.
“Follow your dream, start somewhere and do not give up on what you want. Keep pushing to get good results at the end of the day.”
Globally, women-only spas like The Dior Spa at the Hotel Plaza Athénée in Paris and Sisley Paris NYC Maison stand as beacons of luxury and personalised care, setting the standard for exclusive wellness retreats.
Established in 2021, PizzySpa, with its unique blend of beauty services and dedication to women’s health, joins the ranks of these esteemed establishments, offering a local oasis of tranquillity and empowerment. It stands as a symbol of what women can achieve when they prioritise self-care and chase their dreams.
According to Patience, the act of beautification, whether through spa treatments, makeup, or fashion, can have a profound psychological impact on women.
“It’s not just about the outward appearance; it’s about the inner transformation that occurs when a woman feels beautiful. This sense of beauty often translates into a feeling of empowerment and assertiveness. Research suggests that when women engage in beautification practices, they approach the world with increased strength and confidence,” she said.
Studies support Patience’s assertion as they conclude that feeling beautiful can lead to a positive self-image, which in turn influences behaviour and decision-making. Women who feel good about their appearance are more likely to associate themselves with assertiveness and report higher levels of sexual motivation and positive affect. This empowerment extends beyond personal satisfaction, impacting their willingness to act assertively economically, socially and politically.

Moreover, the beauty choices a woman makes can reflect her emotional state and self-esteem. A positive self-image leads to decisions that enhance her natural beauty, while insecurity might drive the pursuit of unattainable standards.
“PizzySpa’s focus on helping women look and feel their best is not just a service; it’s a step towards empowering women to feel more powerful and assertive in their daily lives. The spa’s environment, dedicated to nurturing women’s beauty, contributes to this sense of empowerment, providing a space where they can focus on self-care and emerge feeling stronger and more capable,” said Patience. — @Lo7246Lovelyn
