AN Esigodini family is appealing for information to help them locate a Form three pupil who disappeared from hospital on Sunday last week after he became mentally unstable due to migraine headaches.

Khulekani Nyathi, a pupil at Mzinyathini Secondary School disappeared from Esigodini District Hospital at around 9PM, said his aunt Christine Nyathi.

Nyathi said her nephew is an orphan who was living with his 75-year-old grandfather, Douglas Nyathi and grandmother, Lakheli Ndlovu, 70, at the time of his disappearance.

“My parents called me last week informing me that my nephew had been suffering from migraine headaches for a week. I then took him to Esibomvu Clinic on Thursday and they gave him paracetamol but his condition never improved,” said Nyathi.

“On Sunday he started behaving in a strange way, he was running out of the homestead stating that he was seeing strange things. I then took him to Esigodini District Hospital where he was admitted.”

Nyathi said she left the institution at around 5.30PM and informed nurses on duty that Khulekani had previously stormed out of their homestead.

She said she went back to the institution the following day in the morning and she was shocked to discover that he was missing.

“I asked the hospital authorities where my nephew was and they told me he disappeared at around 9PM the day he was admitted. Since then I’ve not received any information on Khulekani’s whereabouts,” said Nyathi.

She said the matter was reported at Esigodini Police Station.

Matabeleland South Acting Provincial Medical Director, Reuben Mabhena said the matter would be investigated.
