POLICE are hunting for a motorist who struck and killed a 24-year-old pedestrian along Luveve Road in Bulawayo before fleeing the scene.

The fatal accident happened at around 5am on Tuesday opposite Rio Turn Bus Stop in Matshobana.

Police say Talent Msipha of Mpopoma was crossing the road when he was hit by a white Nissan Caravan heading east.

“The driver did not stop and the victim was dragged for about 50 metres from the point of impact, sustaining multiple fractures. He died on the spot,” said Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Nomalanga Msebele.

The body was taken to the mortuary for post-mortem.

“We warn all drivers who fail to stop after an accident that the long arm of the law will catch up with them. We also appeal to anyone with information to contact the nearest police station,” said Insp Msebele.
