IN-FORM striker Joao Pedro scored a second-half equaliser as Chelsea rescued a point at home to promoted Hull City at Stamford Bridge yesterday.
The reigning Premier League Player of the Month curled a superb effort into the top corner in the 66th minute to earn Chelsea a 2-2 draw after Hull had overturned an early deficit to lead at half-time.
Club-record signing Morgan Rogers gave the hosts a seventh-minute lead, but Hull responded through a Mohamed Belloumi brace. The Algerian winger volleyed home Ryan Giles’ cross for the equaliser before adding a second shortly before the break after reacting quickly to a loose ball in the box.
Chelsea pushed for a response after the interval and found it through Joao Pedro, who continued his impressive form with a clinical finish following good work from Cole Palmer. Both sides created chances late on, with Hull substitute Mohamed-Ali Cho missing a golden opportunity to snatch victory, while Chelsea were unable to find a winner despite sustained pressure.
The result leaves Hull third and Chelsea fourth in the Premier League table, although the Blues have played a game more than many of their rivals. — BBCSport
