Afro-hip-hop rapper Peek-Kay’s latest video “Kwakumberi” is out. The video shows Pee-Kay taking a stroll accompanied by youths in several ghettos including Highfield, Glen View and Mbare. “Kwakumberi” is a slang word often used to describe something that’s trending. On the video, Pee-Kay went to basics showing love to the “hood” and the life in Harare’s ghettoes. He also raps about his appreciation of the ghetto and gives props to some of the people who influence his music.
The good thing about the video is that it has good camera work and the picture quality is second to none. The video is out ahead of the single in which he featured the Jamaican chanter Busy Signal due for release later this year.
“Kwakumberi” follows the success of Pee-Kay’s two other club bangers, “Ma1” featuring BaShupi and “Letting Go” featuring Speedy of Bongo Maffin.
The two singles once dominating the national airwaves on Star FM, Power FM and ZiFM charts as well as on satellite channels like Channel O and Boss TV.
Hate or love him, Pee-Kay stands out as one of the sought-after rappers in Zimbabwe.
On “ Ma1” Pee-Kay brought some of the A-listers in music in the region including the likes of Nigerian pop star D-Banj, Jnr Brown, Pokello Nare, BaShupi, Mic Inity, Smylie and fitness trainer popularly known as Mugo.
The video is absolute magic and the choreography is on point. It is the same quality on “Letting Go” where Pee-Kay and Speedy flaunt their bling.
There is no doubt that Pee-Kay is putting Zimbabwe on the music map with his music which appeal to a crossover audience.
The 29-year-old, who is a graphic designer by profession, says nothing will stop him.
