A MAN from Hwange has been fined $400 after he was caught peeping at a naked woman.
Archford Mavesere (36) of 37B Ingagula in Hwange who is employed as a plant operator by the Zimbabwe Power Company (ZPC) was convicted of “criminal insult” by provincial magistrate Mr Gift Thando Dube after he was caught peeping at a woman in the area who had just finished bathing. Mr Dube fined him $400 and in addition, six months were suspended for five years on condition he does not commit a similar offence. Mavesere denied the allegation before accusing the woman of trying to fix him after she had damaged his cellphone which he had asked her to charge.
“Your worship, these allegations being levelled against me are false as they are meant to fix me by the complainant who dropped my cellphone leading to it getting damaged. She was using that allegation to run away from having it repaired,” he said.
The court heard that on 25 August 2019 at around 9am, Mavesere proceeded to a house in the area where the woman resides and asked her to charge his handset. She agreed to assist and took the handset into her room and plugged it while Mavesere remained standing outside.
The court heard that the woman went to bath and when she was now applying lotion to her body, she noticed Mavesere peeping through the French door of her room before confronting him. She reported the matter to the police leading to Mavesere’s arrest. Mr John Mutyakaviri appeared for the State.
