ZANU PF Member of Parliament for Pelandaba-Tshabalala Constituency and Member of the Speakers’ Panel, Cde Joseph Tshuma, has paid his sincere condolences following the tragic death of revered poet and Member of Parliament for Nkulumane Constituency, Desire “Moyoxide” Moyo.
Moyo, aged 45, died in a car accident in the early hours of Friday, 10 October 2025, near Shangani when the vehicle he was travelling in to Bulawayo hit an elephant.
The horrific crash claimed his life instantly and left several of his colleagues injured. He would have celebrated his 46th birthday on Saturday.
Cde Tshuma conveyed his condolences on Saturday evening while speaking during an engagement with the media and residents to provide updates on community development initiatives in his constituency.
The engagement took place at the Bulawayo Media Centre during the second edition of the Tell The Nation Dialogue series, hosted by Tell Zimbabwe, a Masvingo-based media outlet.
Speaking to the gathering, Cde Tshuma delivered an emotional tribute.
“Let me pay my sincere and deepest condolences to the Moyo family for losing a breadwinner, a poet, a colleague, and a determined individual in terms of the cultural aspect—a man who stood his ground over the beliefs that he so much adored,” he said.
He continued, “He was a close friend of mine that I had the pleasure to work with, not only in the political sphere but also in the cultural sphere. Since I have been involved in that sphere as well, talking about culture.”
He added that Bulawayo, indeed, and Zimbabwe as a whole, has lost a great man.
“We have lost a poet, a colleague, we have lost a Member of Parliament, Honourable Desire Moyo. May his soul eternally rest in peace,” he said, also wishing well to the injured MPs.
“And I am wishing a speedy recovery to the other colleagues that were part of the journey that God spared. May the healing hand of the Lord lay upon all of you, and let us continue to move forward the agenda that was endeared by Honourable Desire Moyo and a lot of other people.”
