MASHONALAND West Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution Marian Chombo is expected to preside over the handover of 15 ready-to-build residential stands to people with disabilities and people with albinism at Holyland high-density scheme in Kadoma by a local property firm on Thursday.

The ceremony, scheduled for Kadoma Civic Centre, highlights the importance of public-private partnerships (PPPs) in driving community development.

The donation by Craft Properties comprises ten residential stands allocated to PWDs and five to people with albinism.

The company has reportedly already completed the drawing and approvals of the proposed three-room building plans bearing the beneficiaries’ names.

Sanyati District Development Coordinator Mr Amigo Mhlanga said the initiative resonates with the nation’s development agenda.

“We wholeheartedly commend the leadership of Craft Properties, under Professor Kudakwashe Taruberekera, for their proactive and tangible support.

“This is a perfect example of private players partnering with the Government  to bring change to our communities. This initiative aligns directly with the tenets of the 2021 Government of Zimbabwe Disability Policy, which aims to combat marginalisation and ensure the full inclusion of persons with disabilities in all facets of life, including access to land and housing,” he said.

The chairperson of the PWDs in Kadoma, Mr Moses Marufu, said: “To us PWDs, this is more than just land; it is dignity, respect and hope for independent living. We are grateful to the company for recognising our community and making this permanent investment in our future.”

Craft Properties Holdings chief executive officer Professor Kudakwashe Taruberekera said the donation is part of the company’s ongoing commitment to uplift marginalised communities.

He appealed to the wider business community and civic organisations to assist in the next phase.

“Our goal is to ensure that these stands transform into homes. I, therefore, appeal to other private sector players, civic organisations, construction material suppliers and financial institutions to join us in this noble cause.”
