Pep plays down rivalry

MANCHESTER — Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has played down the rivalry between himself and Jose Mourinho insisting: “It’s not about me or him.”

The two managers will work in close proximity to each other next term with Mourinho taking over at Manchester United while Guardiola starts work at the Etihad.

Speaking at his first press conference yesterday since being officially unveiled, Guardiola spoke about his former Clasico rival, as well as Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp and new Chelsea coach Antonio Conte.

“Jose said it pretty well: It’s not about me or him,” the Spaniard said.

“What I saw from the distance is that it is so tough to win games here. I will find that out myself.

“We have played against each other many times as coaches and the big coaches help me to reach another level.

“My experience against him or Jurgen Klopp, they made me better. All of the managers want to win and we want to do that as well.” — The Mirror.
