Pep to win players trust

MANCHESTER. — Pep Guardiola has vowed to win the trust of his Manchester City stars.

But the new City boss has warned them they will win nothing if they don’t click as a new-look team.

Guardiola has inherited a squad that flopped in the English Premier League last soccer season under Manuel Pellegrini. The former Bayern Munich and Barcelona boss has added new faces in Ilkay Gundogan, Nolito and Oleksandr Zinchenko and is also on the trail of defenders Leonardo Bonucci and John Stones. And Guardiola has made it clear that developing a stronger team spirit is one of his first targets.

Guardiola said: “Every training session, every speech, every time we speak, whether we’re taking a beer together or whatever, I want in that moment that they can see they can trust me.

“That’s the first step for me.

“We have to create a good body language on the pitch. I want them to feel that I work for them, because in the next action they have to run for me. — The Daily Star.
