CELEBRITY blogger and media personality Perez Hilton has been taken to hospital after reportedly livestreaming an apparent act of self-harm on TikTok, prompting an emergency response from authorities in Miami.
According to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched on Tuesday after receiving multiple reports from members of the public about a man broadcasting acts of self-harm on social media.
Although authorities did not officially identify the individual, Hilton’s management later confirmed they were aware of the incident involving their client.
Deputies arrived at the Miami residence and met with members of the man’s family before adopting a crisis intervention approach. Law enforcement said officers deliberately created time and distance to allow for de-escalation rather than forcing an immediate confrontation.
The sheriff’s office explained that in incidents involving someone experiencing a mental health crisis, slowing the situation can reduce the risk of further harm while giving trained personnel an opportunity to communicate with the individual safely.
Authorities confirmed that the man was alone inside the home during the livestream.
Later on Tuesday, the sheriff’s office announced that the individual had been safely removed from the residence and transported by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue to a local hospital, where he is receiving medical care. In a statement shared with entertainment outlet TMZ, Hilton’s managers, Dante Rusciolelli and Rebekah Kochan, said they were aware of the disturbing footage circulating online, but had not yet been able to establish direct contact with him.
“Our primary concern is Perez’s health and well-being, as well as the well-being of his family,” the statement read.
They also appealed for privacy while awaiting confirmed information.
Born Mario Armando Lavandeira Jr., Hilton became one of the internet’s most recognisable celebrity bloggers during the mid-2000s through his gossip website, known for its outspoken and often controversial commentary on Hollywood stars.
In recent years, he has shifted his focus to podcasting, reality television appearances and social media content creation.
In June, Hilton revealed that he had relocated from Las Vegas to Miami with his three children. No further details about his condition have been released.
