THE Prophets Emmanuel and Ruth Makandiwa Invitational Concert and Awards (Permican) ceremony has bounced back to celebrate and reward achievements in the gospel sector following a two-year sabbatical. Running under the theme “Creatively touching souls,” the awards will be held at The City Sports Center on November 29. Speaking at a press briefing in the capital last Friday, Pastor Ted Lazaro said the period under consideration for the awards is from January 1, 2018 to July 31 this year.
The Permican has added two categories — the Best Church Choir and the Zimbabwe Diaspora Gospel artiste — which will honour any Zimbabwean based in the diaspora.
“Due to several reasons that include lack of sponsorship, since 2016 we have not been able to host these awards and we are happy that this year all is taking shape.
“We will be honouring artistes who have made an impact in the society while also providing a platform for a night of creative worship,” he said.
Recognition will be awarded to song, video, album and group of the year. There are also categories to honour best producer, urban contemporary, female and male artistes.
In addition, there will be awards for Best Newcomer, Traditional Song, Collaboration and the Most Viewed Song within the reviewed period.
The Best Live DVD, Gospel Legend and Television/Radio Gospel programme will be recognised as well.
